Retitrage: quel cauchemar

In a dream I had this week, Claire mentioned she had not yet been to an American horror movie. My response to this travesty was immediate. Invasion of the Body Snatchers (aka Pod People) was a must-see.

The nightmarish 1956 classic was called Attention: Légumes! in my dream. Read on for other American film titles outrageously retooled for a French audience. Titles — and their impact — are no simple matter, as you’ll see from Hannah Olivennes’ piece. Spend some time thinking about the questions raised at the end before having a look at the top des pires traductions québécoises. (At least they’re in French.)

Grab a Carambar for a sweet ending to the experience and keep your eyes peeled for a special edition of the classic children’s candy slipped inside the bag. It comes complete with grown-up jokes inside the black wrappers, but don’t dawdle. The x-rated bonbons will only be available through May 15. No peeking at the jokes if you’re under 18.
